Building an 8" Closed Tube Reflector

Plans

The following are individual plans of parts you will need to fabricate.

This is a plan of the back end showing mirror cell parts and mirror. You can how the whole assembly is greatly simplified. There is a large amount of exposed back surface on the mirror, the fan exhausts out the back and pulls the air around the mirror. For those who want to break the surface or boundary layer you can easily insert a fan at the side of the tube opposite the mirror surface.

Plan for the combination end cap and cell base. The fan plate (on which the fan itself is mounted) attaches to this end cap. The end cap or back plate diameter should be derived by carefully measuring your Black Light tube.

The fan plate attaches to the end cap by three screws as shown. The jack mounting hole is skewed off to one side so as to clear the corner of the fan.

The back ring diameter should be derived by carefully measuring the ID of your Black Light tube after the interior flocking has been cut away as shown in the instructions elsewhere.

The front ring diameter should be derived by carefully measuring the ID of your Black Light tube after the interior flocking has been cut away as shown in the instructions elsewhere.
