The telescope central cage is made of welded extruded aluminum square stock. with aluminum tubular struts.

Deven made this superb 12" f/8 telescope during 2004 and 2005 and had it ready for the Star Quest star party in July 2005. The design was loosely based on one I had published on this web site but with changes, added features and excellent (superior) execution. |

The rotating top was made of cardboard builders tube coated with many coats of polyester resin and finally coated with metallic paint. |
The secondary utilizes a semi-circular curved vane spider. |
Mirror cell allows for maximum exposure of the optical surface as well as the back to air, contributing to rapid thermal equalization |

The telescope weighs about 50 lbs and is mounted on an Orion Atlas mount. Note the open back cell design. |
